About Intuitive Tutoring
Raven Brown is a native New Yorker who was raised in the NYC public school system with dyslexia. She has a doctorate in Public and Urban Policy. Her research interests include the social safety net, poverty and inequality. To be successful academically, Brown had to learn how her brain works. Raven began teaching while she was a Ph.D. student. She realized that one of the most significant barriers to academic success was that not all students could learn effectively using a one-size-fits-all education model. She founded Intuitive Tutoring to provide students with the opportunity to learn in a way that suits them. Because of Brown’s interest in social welfare and reducing poverty and inequality, she decided to work with local schools, parents, and organizations to give pro bono tutoring sessions to students in need for each tutoring package purchased. This was a way to give access to the tools for educational success to students in need, regardless of socioeconomic status.
